Critique by Art Museum of XXth and XXIst centuries (Saint Petersburg)

When looking at the works of Veronique Pages, invariably there is an almost sensual feeling of the presence of natural elements - water surface, airspace. This feeling, in French “impression,” draws us to the traditions of impressionism and recalls that Veronique Pages is an artist who left the classical French school of painting. In her works, centuries-old traditions and a brightly individual, pictorial perception of life were miraculously combined. Virtuosity, lightness, sophistication of paintings Veronique Pages invariably hides the hard work and the strength of her artistic will. She boldly experiments, plays with compositional-color solutions, with the texture of materials. Effectively using the structure of the canvas fabric, the artist writes with wide color planes, as if by paints throwing a veil to the surface and giving depth and intensity to the pictorial basis. The use of opposite colors - black and white, gives rise to dynamics and rhythm in the compositions of Veronique Pages. It effectively solves the problem of creating an internal space and the interaction of various forms and plastics in it. This combination of colors and textures appeals to the memories and imagination of the artist, creating almost tangible images of the world.
