Born in 1955, Véronique Pagès lives and works in Paris and in the South of France. Trained in ancient painting techniques as a copyist at the Louvre museum, she studied at the atelier Nicolas Poussin and the School of Decorative Arts in Paris and the Kunstgewerbeschule in Basel. She has pursued a personal path in an abstract style, working with a mixed technique of painting and collages. Her structural compositions are built on the interaction between the opacity of various materials and the transparency of silk paper, used as a glaze to give depth to canvasses. A member of the Maison des Artistes, she has exhibited her work around the world and sometimes works in commission.
“A great painting is not genius with a paintbrush. It’s years of concentrated effort. A journey without maps, with only a faint idea where you are heading.”
